Eleonora’s falcon

Price range: 68.0 $ through 98.0 $

Eleonora’s Falcon is a medium-sized beautiful bird of prey, quite rare to spot in the area where I live. It’s named after Eleonora of Arborea, who ruled Sardinia at the end of the 14th century. Eleonora is remembered favorably as a ruler who loved nature. She enacted laws aimed at preventing the theft of chicks during the breeding season. This bird, unique for nesting across various islands from Morocco to Greece and Cyprus, faces some risks today due to maritime transportation, infrastructure development, and tourism in areas that were once its exclusive habitat. These disruptions pose a threat to its existence. Let’s hope we follow the example of its namesake and look after this unique bird.
